Science

Our everyday lives are full of science.  Our Science programs aim to create enthusiastic, scientifically literate students.  To facilitate this, we provide a broad range of experiences including practical and computer activities to maximise student engagement and learning.

Curriculum 

The Science Years 7 – 10 syllabus outlines that students will develop knowledge and understanding of :
  • the history of science
  • the nature and practice of science
  • applications and uses of science
  • implications of science for society and the environment
  • current issues, research and development
  • models, theories and laws, and structures and systems related to the physical world, matter, the living world and Earth and space
  • interactions within the physical world, matter, the living world and Earth and space.
 And students will develop skills in working scientifically through:
  • planning investigations
  • conducting investigations
  • communicating information and understanding
  • developing scientific thinking and problem-solving techniques
  • working individually and in teams
Our programs address these issues and provide students with a broad variety of learning experiences. Activities include hands-on practical work, independent work, group work, use of computer technology, learning centres, communication skills, literacy skills and numeracy skills.
