Sport (2009)
Sport is an integral and vital part of GRC Peakhurst Campus School program. It is compulsory for all students between the years 7 – 10. Our Sport program aims to provide a substantial range of benefits and activities for all students. Apart from enjoying the activity itself and the social interaction that goes with it, students gain health and physical benefits for both their short term and long-term health. All sporting activities offer physical, physiological and psychological benefits to all students. With the median age of the states population rising and people becoming more obese and sedentary, participation in regular physical activity has become more important. Improved health, physical fitness and self-esteem can be gained through regular activity that we aim to achieve on a weekly basis. Through sport, children can learn social skills and body co ordination. Sport is based upon many skills that can also be applied to everyday life such as dedication, persistence, determination, teamwork, time management and meeting a challenge in the face of adversity. We endeavour towards all students having an involvement in sport and providing them with beneficial and enjoyable experience so that they are more likely to enjoy life long physical activity and so develop a healthy lifestyle. |
