Youth Decide Banner.jpg

Youth Decide '09 is a national youth vote on climate change.

The more greenhouse gases we put into the atmosphere the worse climate change will get.

This December countries will agree on a global limit on greenhouse gases at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
Countries will each set targets for how much they will reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2020.
Australia will have to decide our target as well.

The targets that are chosen will determine the kind of world we will inherit.

Our school has been registered to enter the Doodle 4 Google Competition.

The major prize includes the winning design being hosted on Google Australia’s homepage for 24 hours, a personal laptop for the winner and $10 000 worth of technology for their school.

Entries close on 4th September, but since schools can only submit 8 designs, student designs will need to be submitted to Mrs Keir by no later than Wednesday 26/08/09. Entries will be judged by the Computing Faculty with the winning 8 designs forwarded on to Google.

This year’s theme is “My Wish for Australia”.  In addition to the doodle, entrants will also need to write a title and supporting statement (50 word limit).

Examples of other Google doodles are posted on the notice board outside the A7 Computer Lab and can also be viewed online. A7 will be open during lunch on Thursday 20/08/09, Tuesday 25/08/09 and Wednesday 26/06/09  for students wishing to use the computers in creating their doodles.

While computer drawing/design softwares can be utilised, doodles may also be created using pencil, crayons, felt tip pens or paint.

All students have been e-mailed details about the Doodle 4 Google Competition. Students wanting more information about this competition can either click on the link below or see Mrs Keir in either the Student Welfare Office or the Mathematics Staff Room.
