What is Pi Day?
Pi Day is a day devoted to Pi of course! It was the initiative of the Numeracy Committee, led by Ms Chris Jinga (HT CAPA) in 2007 for the Year 7 cohort that year. The day was filled with Pi activities for all subject areas. Click here for Pi Day Photos.
Pi Day was such a success, that it was decided it would continue to run in future years. However, instead of focussing on Year 7, the day would be dedicated to Year 8 students to coincide with the Year 8 Mathematics Syllabus. As a consequence of this decision, Pi Day did not go ahead in 2008 because the Year 8 students had already completed the numerous activities the year before.
This year, however, Pi Day is back! The Numeracy Committee, under the direction of Mr Tawfik Alaouie, have put the wheels in motion to make Pi Day an even bigger success in 2009! So mark Tuesday 30th June 2009 in your diaries!
